Alavert D Overview

Alavert D is an over the counter medication used to treat symptoms of nasal congestion and allergies in adults and children 6 years and older.

It is a single product containing 2 medications: loratadine and pseudoephedrine. Loratadine belongs to a class of medications called antihistamines and works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.  Pseudoephedrine belongs to a class of medications called nasal decongestants and  works by causing narrowing of the blood vessels in the nasal passages.

This medication comes in a tablet form and is taken up to twice daily.

Common side effects of Alavert D include restlessness, headache, and dry mouth.
