Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief Overview

Updated:

Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief is an over the counter medication used to treat symptoms of diarrhea along with gas, including gas, cramps, and bloating.

It is a single product containing 2 ingredients: Loperamide and simethicone. Loperamide is an antidiarrheal, which works by slightly paralyzing the intestines which allows the stools to spend more time in the intestines and reduces the amount of fluids in the stools. Simethicone belongs to a group of drugs called antiflatulents. Antiflatulents work by breaking up gas bubbles in the stomach and making them easier to be burped before entering the intestines.

This medication comes in a caplet and chewable tablet form, and is usually taken after each loose stool, with or without food.

Common side effects of Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief include dizziness, nausea, and constipation.
