Mylicon is a over the counter medication used to treat symptoms of gas such as uncomfortable or painful pressure, fullness and bloating in infants and children. Mylicon belongs to a group of drugs called antiflatulents. These work by decreasing the surface tension of gas bubbles, causing them to combine into larger bubbles in the stomach that can be passed more easily.

This medication comes in solution form and is given as needed, after meals and at bedtime.

A common side effect of Gas-X includes burping.
