Preparation H Hydrocortisone is an over the counter medication used to relive anal itching in adults and children 12 years of age and older. Preparation H Hydrocortisone belongs to a group of drugs called steroids. These work by reducing inflammation.

This medication comes in a cream and is applied no more than 3 to 4 times a day.

Common side effects of Preparation H Hydrocortisone include mild pain or stinging.
