Unisom is an over the counter medication used to treat insomnia in adults and children 12 years of age and older.

Unisom belongs to a group of drugs called antihistamines. These work by blocking histamine and acetylcholine to help you get drowsy and fall asleep.This medication comes in a tablet form and is taken once daily 30 minutes before bedtime.

Common side effects of Unisom include dry mouth, nose and throat, drowsiness and nausea.
