Eskalith Overview
Eskalith is a prescription medication used to treat manic episodes in people with bipolar disorder. It is also used as a maintenance medication to reduce these episodes in people with bipolar disorder. Eskalith belongs to a group of medications called antimanic agents. It works by decreasing abnormal activity in the brain.
Eskalith is available as capsules and is usually taken 3 to 4 times a day.
Common side effects of Eskalith include uncontrollable shaking in the hands, increased urination, thirst, and nausea. Eskalith can also cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how Eskalith affects you.
*Brand name Eskalith capsules are no longer available. Generic versions are made available by several manufacturers.
