Excedrin Overview
Excedrin is an over the counter medication used to treat migraines and minor aches and pain.
It is a single product containing 3 ingredients: acetaminophen, aspirin, and caffeine. Acetaminophen belongs to a group of drugs called analgesics, which is thought to work by blocking pain signals from reaching the brain. Aspirin belongs to a group of drugs called salicylates, which work by stopping the production of certain natural substances that cause fever and pain. Caffeine belongs to a group of drugs called Central Nervous System Stimulants, and is thought to work by boosting the effectiveness of other pain medications and helping the body absorb other pain medications quicker.
This medication comes in a tablet form, and is usually taken every 6 hours with food and a full glass of water.
Common side effects of Excedrin is stomach upset, shakiness/tremors, and difficulty sleeping.
