Hydrochlorothiazide

Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention. Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of drugs called diuretics ("water pills"), which help the body get rid of excess fluid.

This medication comes in tablet and capsule forms. Hydrochlorothiazide is usually taken once in the morning, with or without food.

Common side effects of hydrochlorothiazide include frequent urination, weakness, and dizziness.  Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how hydrochlorothiazide will affect you.  

Allopurinol

Allopurinol is a prescription medication used to treat gout, high levels of uric acid, and kidney stones.  Allopurinol belongs to a group of drugs call xanthine oxidase inhibitors, which work by decreasing uric acid in the body. High levels of uric acid may lead to gout attacks or kidney stones.

This medication comes in tablet form and is taken once a day or in divided doses, with food and water. It is also in an injectable form to be given into the vein (IV) by healthcare professional.

Benazepril

Benazepril is a prescription medicine used with other medications to treat high blood pressure. Benazepril belongs to a group of medications called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Benazepril works by blocking the ACE enzyme, which helps blood vessels to relax and lowers blood pressure.

This medication comes in tablet form and is usually taken once or twice daily with water. 
 
Common side effects include headache, dizziness, fatigue and cough.
 

Lotrel

Lotrel is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure. It is a single product containing 2 medications: amlodipine and benazepril. Amlodipine is in a class of medications called calcium channel blockers. It works by relaxing the blood vessels so the heart does not have to pump as hard. Benazepril is in a class of medications called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.  It works by decreasing certain chemicals that tighten the blood vessels, so blood flows more smoothly.

This medication comes in capsule form and is taken once a day, with or without food.

Calcipotriene

Calcipotriene is a prescription medication used to treat plaque psoriasis. Calcipotriene belongs to a group of drugs called synthetic vitamin D3 derivatives. The exact way calcipotriene works to treat plaque psoriasis is unknown.

This medication comes in the form of a foam. It is usually applied to the affected skin twice daily.

Common side effects of calcipotriene foam are irritation, redness, and itching of the skin treated.
