Orajel Mouth Sore Rinse Overview

Updated:

Orajel Mouth Sore Rinse is an over the counter medication used to promote healing of canker sores, ease gum irritation, soothe cheek bites, and lessens denture irritation.

It is a single product containing 2 ingredients: hydrogen peroxide and menthol.

Orajel Mouth Sore Rinse belongs to a group of drugs called oral antiseptics and analgesics. The oral antiseptic, hydrogen peroxide, works by releasing oxygen when it is applied to the affected area. The release of oxygen causes foaming, which helps to remove mucus and clean the area. The analgesic, menthol, works by temporarily relieving the pain.

This medication comes in a solution and is used up to four times daily and at bedtime after meals.

Common side effects of Orajel Mouth Sore Rinse include redness, stinging and irritation.
