Amit Verma, MD

Dr. Amit Verma is Director, Comprehensive Epilepsy Program, Director of the division of Clinical Neurophysiology (EEG, Intra-operative monitoring and Epilepsy Program) and Director of the Neurophysiology fellowship program. His clinical interests include the evaluation of patients with medically refractory epilepsy and sleep disorders.



Dr. Verma completed his undergraduate and medical education in Amritsar, India, after which he came to the US for his residency and fellowship. He trained at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and performed a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at Duke University Medical Center. Upon completion of his fellowship at Duke, Dr. Verma returned to Baylor College of Medicine as an assistant professor in the Peter Kellaway Section of Neurophysiology in the Department of Neurology. His research at Baylor focused on brainwave changes during epileptic seizures for the development of new diagnostic and treatment strategies. He joined the Houston Methodist Hospital in 2007 as director of the Sleep Disorders Center. In addition to his clinical responsibilities and robust research program, Dr. Verma is an active member of several national and local societies and has been director of the adult epilepsy camp sponsored by the Epilepsy Society of America since 2001.
