Daniel A. Clearfield, D.O., M.S., C.A.Q.S.M.

Dr. Clearfield is a Board Certified physician in Family Medicine & Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine as well as Primary Care Sports Medicine.

He is a second generation Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) who grew up in Arlington, Texas. He graduated from James Martin High School and was an all-state wrestler and Captain of the wrestling team. He then attended the University of Texas at Austin earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, graduating Cum Laude with Honors.

After college he attended the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) where he earned his D.O. degree from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) as well as his Master of Science in Clinical Research and Education in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) from the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. He completed an Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio where he served as Chief Resident. He completed a Pre-Doctoral Fellowship in OMM at TCOM and a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship with Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey.

Dr. Clearfield currently works as faculty at UNTHSC in Fort Worth, Texas where he serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and practices sports medicine at the Ben Hogan Bone & Joint Institute. In addition he serves as teaching faculty for the Department of OMM at TCOM, and he is also a member of the TCOM Academy of Medical Educators, a faculty development course geared toward higher-order education.

Dr. Clearfield has training in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK-US) and ultrasound-guided injections, platelet-rich plasma therapy, prolotherapy, orthotics, casting/splinting, joint and soft tissue injections and aspirations, concussion management utilizing ImPACT, SCAT-2, and CNS Vital Signs testing modalities, ECG interpretation in athletes, osteopathic manipulative medicine, cardiac exercise stress testing, office spirometry and pulmonary function testing, and other procedures germane to outpatient family and sports medicine. He has experience working with all levels of athletes including NCAA Divisions I, II & III, Olympian, NFL, NHL, USA Wrestling, US Amateur Boxing, MMA and WWE.

While a medical student Dr. Clearfield earned such awards as the 2006 AOA Presidential Memorial Leadership Award and was TCOM Student D.O. of the Year in 2007. As a resident Doctor Clearfield served as the Chairman for the Osteopathic Residency Advisory Committee (ORAC) and was the Region IV Trustee for the American Osteopathic Association’s Council of Interns and Residents (CIR). In 2009 he was the recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism & Excellence in Teaching Award and in 2010 Dr. Clearfield was recognized as one of the American Osteopathic Foundation/Merck Outstanding Residents of the Year.

Dr. Clearfield has special interests in utilizing osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) in sports medicine, prolotherapy, musculoskeletal ultrasound, concussion management, and teaching/mentoring students, residents and fellows. He enjoys spending time with his wife Jessica, daughter Hannah, and his two dogs. In his spare time Dr. Clearfield also enjoys outdoor activities and participates on multiple recreational sports teams.
