Buscopan Overview

Buscopan is a medication used to treat abdominal cramping and irritable bowel syndrome. Buscopan belongs to a group of medications that are called antispasmodics, these work by relaxing the muscles in the stomach and intestines.

Buscopan is available in tablet form and is usually given 3 to 4 times a day with or without food as needed for abdominal cramping. It is not recommended to take Buscopan for extended periods of time. Do not crush or chew the tablets.

Common side effects of Buscopan include dry mouth, increased heart rate, small blisters on hands and feet, and difficulty passing urine.

Buscopan is not available in the United States.
