Cefpodoxime is a prescription medication used to treat certain infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and gonorrhea.  It is also used to treat infections of the ear, skin, throat, sinuses, and urinary tract.  Cefpodoxime belongs to a group of drugs called cephalosporins. These work by killing bacteria. 

This medication comes in a tablet and liquid form and is usually taken twice a day.  The liquid can be taken with or without food.  The tablets should be taken with food.

Common side effects of cefpodoxime include diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain.
