Cefpodoxime is a prescription medication used to treat certain infections of the ears, skin, throat, and urinary tract. It is used to treat pneumonia, sinusitis, and bronchitis. It is also used to treat gonorrhea. Cefpodoxime belongs to a group of drugs called cephalosporins. These work to kill bacteria by preventing them from forming a cell wall. 

This medication comes as a tablet and liquid to take by mouth and is usually taken twice a day.

The suspension can be taken with or without food.

The tablets should be taken with food to enhance absorption. The tablets should be swallowed whole and taken with a full glass of water.

Common side effects of cefpodoxime tablets include diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain. Common side effects of cefpodoxime liquid are diarrhea, vomiting, and skin rash.
