Ranolazine is a prescription medication used to treat chronic angina (ongoing chest pain). It belongs to a group of drugs called antianginals. The exact way it works is unknown. Ranolazine is used to prevent angina attacks. It will not lessen an attack that has already begun.

Ranolazine comes in an extended-release (long-acting) tablet. It is usually taken twice daily, with or without food. Ranolazine tablets should be swallowed whole and not crushed, broken, or chewed.

Common side effects include nausea, constipation, and headache. Ranolazine can cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.
